By bus
Once you arrive at Tirana’s “Nene Tereza†(Mother Teresa) or Rinas Airport is about 25km North West of Tirana, which is 30-40 minutes drive to city centre. Then from Tirana you’ll have to take the bus South to Saranda which is about 230km from the Capital. The bus station is located at Misto Mame . The journey will take about 6 ½ hrs.
By Car
Due to road and safety improvements traveling by car through Albania is an enjoyable option now.
Coming from Greece you can cross the border at Kakavija and drive on to Saranda which is about 50 minutes drive.
Coming from Macedonia you can cross at Qafe Thana border point and then drive via Elbasan – Rogozhine – Lushnje – Fier – Tepelena – Gjirokaster – Saranda. It is about 230km or about 5 hours drive.
Coming from Montenegro you can cross the border at Murriqan and then drive all the way to Shkodra – Lezhe – Durres – Rrogozhine – Lushnje – Fier – Tepelena – Gjirokastra – Saranda. It is about 290 km or about 8 hours drive.
